PNP: It represents the first type, which is bipolar with a junction in which the base is of the negative type, and the emitter and collector are of the positive type.

NPN: represents the second type with a circular effect, in which the base is of the positive type, and the radiator and the collector are of the negative type, and the transistor is exposed to three main faults, which are short, open, or filtered, and to test these faults and check the transistor, an ohmmeter is used in Rx100 ohm mode .

Resistance
Fixed resistors: It consists of a carbon resistance that contains a mixture of carbon and ceramics in a certain proportion and is used in the circuit with a small capacity. Glass is used in high-capacity circuits.

Variable resistors: It is a disc of insulating material covered with a layer of resistive material such as carbon, and its value changes from zero to the maximum degree, and it is used in circuits with small capacities.

Thermal resistors: They are two types of negative resistance with a negative thermal coefficient whose value decreases with the increase in its temperature, and a positive resistance with a positive coefficient whose value increases with the increase in its temperature.
